sparkplug guards
I'm doing my long block swap on my JGC. I have a 318. I was wondering how you can remove those sparkplug guards on the heads? I don't know the correct name for them or I'd do a search. I can think of an easy way to remove them but I don't want to ruin them. So what's the correct way? Thanks!

If you are talking about the sheet metal heat guards, I wouldn't worry. With a decent set of wires you don't need them. If you still want to use them, get a can of PB Blaster penetrating oil and soak them down the exhaust manifold bolts real good. Let them sit over night before you start working on them.

You'll need a thin wrench to hold onto the bolts, and a good six point socket to remove the nuts. The PB Blaster oil is a miracle on exhaust hardware. I have yet to break or strip anything after using it.

The time now is 07:04 AM.
