Sealing up 4.0 timing cover
I just had my cover off a month ago. Found two of the four bolts that come through the oilpan stripped. Helicoiled those and tried to RTV the existing rubber gasket back into place upon reassembly.
This weekend I found it still leaks :(
I only get leakage on steep descents, but, if oil can get out, water can get in.
Any tricks to get this sealed back up without dropping the pan? RTV the heck out of it?
I may have to drop the pan, but, I don't want to aggravate an otherwise non-leaky engine. You know how it is, it doesn't leak until you mess with it.
Probably best to drop the pan and use the one-piece felpro gasket.
