Sealing diff cover
If I used to much silicon sealant could it be a problem? Like could it get in the gears or something? Just wondering if to much can be a big problem

What do you think dried RTV would do to hardened gears?

Its not the gears that would worry me. Its the clutch packs

Shouldn't be a problem. Even for the clutch packs, pieces big enough to do any kind of harm won't fit between them.

Its rare that RTV breaks loose on the inside of the case anyhow. It usually oozes into the case and hardens and sticks there.

The gears and clutch won't be a problem, but the front bearing being starved from having its oil blocked will.

You're putting a cover to a machined surface it needs less than 1/4 wide bead and its sealed, or just use the gasket and no silicone
