Reverse swith

Hi folks
I'm having issues with the reverse light in my YJ 2.5l. The light wasn't working so in changed the switch in the gearbox. The switch uninstalled is working fine an the lights are activating when I pressure manually the switch, but when INSTALLED, doesn't work. Seems like the gearbox lever is not pushing enough to activate it. My question is... When installing the switch there're some additional hardware besides the switch itself that need to be there?

Thanks a lot for your help.
