Rebuild my 304 or buy and rebuild a 360?
The title says it all.
The distributor gear ate my camshaft gear and pumped the filings through the engine so a full tear down is in order. Th question is it better to rebuild and modify the 304 or find a 360 and rebuild it. Money is an issue, if I keep the 304 I will have enough to rebuild the auto and TC (4 to 1). I heard there is a guy out in the sticks near me that races with AMC's and can build in the power I want out of my gutless wonder 304 (120 hp stock). All advice welcome. Robert

360s can be fairly cheap (I paid $300 for mine in great shape w/ about 75,000 miles). If you're looking for power, you'll be happier w/the 360. Of course it has more cubes, but also better heads and more power potential.

Do Both, then you can sell the 304 and have more money
