Rear pinion seal

Ok peeps, I had my rear pinion seal changed out about a week ago because it had a leak. Well all was good till yesterday when I noticed some oil on my garage floor. After preceding to crawl under my jeep, I discovered it started leaking again. Now what am I supposed to do? Calling the garage first thing Monday morning.

Since you have another day left, make sure its a new leak and not residue left over. Might even crawl under there and wiggle the yoke in/out and side to side and see if there is any play. You should not notice any play and if there is then maybe your yoke is either loose or the pinion bearings are bad causing the leak. If everything seems ok and its still leaking then give them a call, it might just be a bad seal, wrong seal or maybe they installed it incorrectly or knicked the seal.

Thats not uncommon. Alot of times, on higher mileage vehicles, the old seal will have worn a grove in the yoke itself, so the only way to stop the leak is to either get a new yoke or sleeve the old one.

Ok so I checked to see if there might be in play in the drive shaft. No play in it what so ever. Not sure what's causing it to leak. I just payed $430 to have both diffs serviced and transmission a week ago and now this. Well guess ill see what they say when I call tomorrow. Wish me luck...
