Rear differential

Have a 1953 m38a1jeep willy. The previous owner was building it up for climbing. The engine is an early 80's buick 231. The max speed I can get without blowing the engine is 45 mph. What can I do to get the mph up to 50-55 without blowing out the engine? Thank you, please help

Gear it appropriately for the tire size you plan on running.

Two options.
Re gear: Early CJ's came with 4'88 or 5.38 gears. they are completely over geared for modern engines and driving conditions.
An overdrive: Find a Warn OD to bolt on the back of the t case. These can be installed without dropping the transfer.

Thanks for the insight, sadly my car knowledge is zero. What's an OD? How does it work and where can I find these. Like I said all I want is to be able to drive around 50-60 without blowing up my engine. If that OD works I wil get on it.

OD= Overdrive a overdrive unit will help you to drive on the road
at higher speeds. It's like a extra tranny.
