Read my gear pattern

Installing G2 4.88's in a 8.8. Backlash is .011 but I'm thinking I need more shim on the pinion, what do you think? This is my first regear and axle swap attempt.

You're out to far on the pin, and you HAVE to check the pattern with the bl set right, you want to be .006 / .008 unless the ring gear itself says it wants a specific bl setting. then run the pattern

Backlash specs are not universal, depends on the axle and what the gear manufacture specifies. The 8.8 generally as a higher backlash spec, my Nitro gears had a specification of .011" to .016". I personally thought that was high and settled on .009".

The actual 8.8 acceptable specs are from 8 to 15, however I haven't set a 8.8 past 8 yet. however I did say if the ring gear has a specific bl # put on it then adjust it to that.
Also on a off-road use vehicle that is going to put load and unload issues on the gear you really don't want a bl beyond 10
