Question on a TJ Exhaust Replacement

I am looking to replace my my exhaust system on my 00 TJ. The existing is still stock. My headers and down pipe are still good and just need to replace from the Cat back. What are the benefits of going to a 2 inch system over keeping the stock 2.25? Any suggestions on models without spending a fortune?
Thanks
