I have replaced my power steering pump with a remanufactured one and the steering seems to be doing ok. While bleeding the power steering, everything seemed good and all the bubbles appear to be gone. I seem to have good circulation (after cleaning out the female connector for the high pressure fitting.. this is what made my last psp blow up). The only problem I'm noticing is that it gets really hot. The pump itself doesn't smoke, but when I open the cap, the fluid is smoking a little and the pump and hoses are too hot to touch. Also, it is making a noise like it's dry, but the fluid level is exactly where it's suppose to be. Could the belt tension cause this? I have about 1/8" give on the belt. Maybe I should loosen it a little to about 1/4"?
I just gotta get this jeep going. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
