So yeah this is prolly already on here. But I'm using my phone and it's hard. I have a 2000 4.0 Tj. Stock axels. Just replaced rear pinion seal. And it's still leaking! Someone said something about a crush sleeve? Is this needed? All the videos and Haynes manual I looked in didn't have anything. Thanks in advance. Lastly. Just did front brakes. And now seems like one side won't "let go". I smell the brake rubbing and when I should be coasting it stops me. Not bad. But enough to worry. Thanks again
Just to elaborate. Te manuals didn't say anything about a crush seal. The yoke had a small grove In it. But didn't think it would do anything. And brakes were fine right after I changed them. Just started doing this today
Either the seal is wrong, defective, picked up a tear in installation, or it's the groove on the yoke. As for the crush sleeve, you need it. It is located between the pinion bearings and holds the rotational/bearing play torgue after setting it during a rebuild.
So I should replace the yoke and go from there? Q tech has them cheap. But they also have the whole rebuild for 100$. But not sure if I "need" to change the gear or crush sleeve? How do I tell...
