Is pcv valve neccesary?

I just replaced the PVC valve on the front and went to replace the one that I thought should be on the back and nothing is there. I also couldn't find any hoses that I thought should run to it? Is there a hose somewhere I need to find? Or does nothing go there? First picture is the front newly replaced valve and the second is the empty back spot
