Om617 owners, how many miles?

For all you guys who have swapped to the Mercedes OM617 diesel or know someone who has one. How many miles have you logged since the swap. Just curious how "bullet proof" these engines actually are after they have been wheeled and abused in a Jeep.

~3000 miles of rev limiter and hard wheeling. (started near 225,000)

Doesn't use any oil, starts at -10*F, and gets 24MPG with 33's on my CJ7

I don't think you'll get a lot more posts, the Mercedes seems to be a lot less common then cummins swaps.

If you're worried about durability, don't worry, the 617 is light years more durable than the 258. The mercs go hundreds of thousands of miles hauling around a car that weighs more than a jeep.

Your probably right. I'm already elbow deep into my 617 Jeep project.

I was hoping to hear from others who have finished the swap. Its one of the downfalls of a unique swap like this.

Built 2 in xjs both on 33's. Both were fresh rebuilds. One has 20000 if hard labor. Towing heavy loads and off roading.
The other has made 2 cross country tours from Florida. It was used in tons of off road parks on both trips. It has 23000 and still purrs.
Neither had had engine related repairs.

Sounds like a typical Mercedes!
