Oil Pressure

Ever since I started to change my own oil the oil pressure has been around 60. What are you guys getting? How do I lower the pressure? Should I not put as much oil in next time?
Thanks

P.S. Sorry I posted this twice just thought I'd get a better answer in this thread.

You don't want your oil press. to be lower, it is set at a certain level from the factory. If you ever saw a significant drop in pressure I would be alarmed. Fill your oil till it reaches the top of the mark on the dip stick. Never over-fill. Any Jeep manual can tell you what pressure you should be getting.

Overfilling will not increase your oil pressure. You'll get the same pressure as long as your pickup is in the oil at all. However, you still dont want to overfill more than a quart or so. It'll make your crank slap the oil too deeply and can also throw too much oil into the bottom of the cylinders.

Have you been using a heavier weight oil? That is the only thing that can change your oil pressure. Maybe you're using 10 or 20 weight and the shop was using 5 or 10 weight?

I don't know what they guy used that I bought it from, but I have always used 10W 30. And about a year ago I switched to synthetic. My dad uses regular 10W 30 in his Grand Cherokee and doesnt have any problems.

My owners manual says anywhere from 45-65 is normal. and i think its usually somewhere around 60. so i'm in the safe zone but just a wee bit on the high side.
