Oil leaking from top of 4.2 valve cover

I am very new to jeeps. I have 2 a 90 with a 4.2 and a 91 with a 2.5. On the top of the 4.2 valve cover there are 3 holes. one is the oil cap. I'm not sure what the other holes are for but they have hoses conected to them and oil is leaking from both of them. what the best way to stop this. Also it looks like there was a hose about 2" in dia. that came from the bottom of the intake filter holder and went to another hole on the side of the engine. This hose is gone and missing. What is it's purpose and should I replace it?

Thanks

Joe

Those other holes in the VC are for the PCV system. Get a Chiltons or other shop manual for routing and other information. The other is for the heat riser off the exhaust manifold to help the engine warm up faster. Not generally needed. The theory is that cold engines put out a lot more emissions due to running rich. The faster the engine warms up, the better.

It's just a Jeep, and if you don't wheel it once in a while, it's not even that.
