O2 sensor- cross compatible?

Are all o2 sensors created equally?

The sensor's electrical plug on my cj's 4.0 has melted on the exhaust manifold. I have a couple of spares that I salvaged from my old v6 ranger; would one of these work as a substitute? It's the upstream sensor.
