I had a small v6 (3.0l engine) in a minivan once and I busted the muffler right off at the manifold pipe on a stump while hammering through a bog (lol this was before I got my jeep, born to drive one huh?) and when it let lose lemme tell ya…I have never in my life heard a louder engine! I had to drive 250miles home with the muffler busted off and just hanging via a coat hanger (so it would not drag). Know how LOUD a REAL harley is when they open those buggers up full throttle? That ear bashing explosion of noise? Picture that but AT LEAST twice as loud. I had a cop actually STOP giving someone else a ticket JUST to pull me over and fine me 300$ for disturbing the peace and failing to meet vehicular requirements for our roadways! That 250mile trek home…lemme tell you…I still think I have ear damage lol. It will be much louder than you think.
Oh and btw, you could EASILY hear that engine from 4 blocks away (at least) and that was only crusing at like 1200rpm. Anything abot 2000rpm was just not an option (blow your eardrums) and even idling you could barely talk to the guy beside you, it was like standing in front of a semi idling diesel and trying to carry on a conversation, just not feasible. I'm not trying to discourage, I'm just letting you know what it -may- be like.
My jeep has only ever killed 3 things, a cat, a deer, and my wallet. What's the problem officer?
1992 Red YJ. Lifted, locked, and loaded with beer (Disclaimer: This doesn't mean said driver endorses drinking and driving, please enjoy alcohol responsibly and do not operate any vehicle of any kind, thank you....)
Thanks to the price of gas here ($4.25 a gal) I just bought a mountain bike, 0" of lift, 0" of travel, MT's, locked rear axle, oh yeah, it's the sh#$.
