Need more power from the 'ol 258

I can't find much info on getting more power out of it, except a few articles here and there.
Is the 4.0 head swap really worth 40hp? Because thats quite a bit for a simple head swap. Are there any other power adders for relativley cheap(i'm not going out buying a blower or turbo)? Like maybe headers, carb, etc? I've been trying to search but I haven't yielded much.
The motor is in a '85 CJ7 if it matters any.

HEI ignition and a Motorcraft carb swap if you don't need to wory about an emissions inspection. Do a search. Tons of info on these swaps in the CJ forum. Might also give us a tire size. Many "weak engines" are really gearing problems due to over sized tires.
