Need Help with WJ Engine Swap (timing or sensor issue)

I have taken a 4.0L out of one WJ and put it into a second one. The engine ran perfect prior to removing it. Now installed into the second WJ it will not start. It pops and spudders like it has a timing issue. After removing the 4.0L I did a rear main seal, pan gasket and valve cover gasket. I cleaned and painted the engine and then installed it into its new home. I will not start, it pops out of the throttle body it sounds like its out of timing. I swapped ECM's no change, I poured gas down the throttle body no change. I checked all connections, I swapped the Crank position sensor by the torque convertor, no change. Oh yea I even moved the Cam poss sensor to see if it changes while cranking it. still no change. I am totally at a loss right now and really need some of wisdom from you all.. Thanks!

Did you clean where the grounds attach to the block?

I did clean the ground to the block, I can and will check it again. as for the firing order it has coil packs so I cant do much with that. When I get this figured out I will post what the issue is so anyone else having similar issues dont have to pull their hair out.

So I kept googling (actually bing) the issue using different words.. found this website www.iatn.com.. problem was I had to join for a mininum of 3 months at 15 a month plus a $10 registration fee.. so it cost me $55 bucks.. but here is what I found; David from Virginia Feb 22, 2011 11:33:06 AM. I had a vehicle that did similar symptoms. Turns out the coil assembly is not interchangable. It triggers the wrong coil at the wrong time. The difference with mine was the connector was in a different clock position. I believe one is straight down and one is straight out. They both will connect but internally they are wired different. Hope this helps. So after reading that I looked at my coil packs.. one was straight out and the one from the dead engine was straight down.. it took 15 minutes to swap them. Turned the key and BINGO car is running perfectly.. well I think I have bad gas but it runs all the same.. Thanks for your help guys.. Awesome fix..

The original quoted text I found... i have this cherokee we swaped motor in. the replacement motor is out of a 99. swap went fine but now when we go to start it, it sounds like timing is off, popping out of the throttle body, blowing vaccum lines off, the whole nine yards. we never touched the cam or crank sensors which we have signal. there are no codes. flywheels looked the same so i don't think it's crank sensor problem and the cam sensor was never moved.what else am i missing? timing chain is on the money. sounds just like i'm 180 off. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
