need help buying a 350

I found a chevy 350 smallblock at the recycling center today. The guy working the yard said i could take it for $150. I need help to determine if it is an actual 350 or a 305. It is in a 1988 Chevy van, the tag under the hood says 5.7L, but I'm unsure about determining if it was still that. Are there any easy ways to determine that. I also need to know if $150 is a good deal. I have to pull the engine myself but that will be no problem.

To recap
Is $150 good deal for a running 350?
What is the easiest way to determine if it is really a 350?

I would say put this question on a Chevy forum. Also ask about the heads. There a a bunch of different heads.
Can you swap it for another engine if you find its no good?
I'd do a compression check before I pulled it. And/or pull the heads to check the cylinders to see if its been bored. Check the taper and round too. Pull the pan and check the crank.

On the top of the block behind the head on the driverside there should be cast numbers either 50 or 57. I think that's for 87 up only.

Starting in 86 GM started casting the engine size of the block next to the casting number on the drivers side rear on top of the bellhousing flange.
14088548, 14093638, 14101148 should be for a 350
14088551, 14093627, 14102058 would be 305s
