Need help before i buy

Ok have been searching. I am looking at a 87 wrangler 4.2L, it pretty built rig but has one issue I need some help on before I take the plunge. It starts and idles good, but when driving there is a pretty bad ping to it. What would be the biggest cause to this. I know it means its running lean but need to know if it would be a easy and very cheap fix.

With a carb it could be an adjustment on the mixture screws or a rebuild. Timing has a lot to do with a ping also.
