Need Help Asap!!!!! Crank Sensor Location
Well guys i do not drive a jeep but took up the job to help a friend out. I'm a ford guy so i know very little about sensors on the jeep. Its a 2003 Grand Cherokee with the 4.0L. Thing cranks dont start untill after about the third try. So i know enought to figure out its the crank sensor but i do not know its location. so if someone can please help me out asap i have to get this back to the guy tonight. just show me the direction of it please. or if you think it could be something else let me know. its got fuel pressure so not a fuel issue

No your brain is worthless.
Passenger side, right next to the oil filter. There's only two sensors to choose from... you shouldn't really need a whole forum to help you find it ![]() |

should be behind the head someplace. try looking around the bellhousing or the back of the block for it...... should be pretty simple

Sorry for the late answer, I just saw this thread, but the crankshaft position sensor is not on the passenger side by the oil filter, that is the camshaft position sensor. The 4.0L engine's crankshaft position sensor is mounted on the transmission bell housing where the transmission bolts to the engine, up high on the driver's side.
And that ten number of people read your post without answering only means that ten people didn't know the answer. This forum is actually well known for being one of the more helpful forums... so please lose the attitude. ![]()

Geezer is correct. Easiest way to reach it it to get a long extension 3foor or so, and a Swivel socket if you can, 7/16 I think, but double check. Laying on the ground, reach it up past the linkage on the side of the tranny with the extension.
Good Luck.
