MJ clutch master cylinder/no pressure

Bought an 86 comanche off my buddy and the clutch master cylinder was off, he said it was leaking. Installed one this evening and put fluid in the reservior and pumped the clutch pedal 50 times maybe and the fluid level had barely gone down. added some and same thing.I traced the hose back and found no leaks. I'm still getting no pressure on my clutch. AM i overlooking something? The fluid line coupler is tight on the master cylinder and the arm to the clutch pedal is on.
