Low pick-up, delayed jolt forward at start

I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler 4Cyl, 2.5L engine. Lately it has been driving a little strange. I feel like the pick-up power is weak. When I start moving from a stop it creeps forward and then seems to jolt forward and begin driving more normally.

Any ideas?

It sounds as though the engine is accelerating normally but the car is only slowly rolling forward until it jolts forward and begins to pick-up normally.

I really appreciate any help. I plan on taking it to a shop unless it could be an easy fix, however, I'd like to have an idea of what the issue is so I don't get hosed!

Thanks, again.
