strange.
the only thing i can tell you is that if the check engine light is coming on and the key cycle is not working (giving a code you can read) then that means usually that the coe os a "hard" code and can only be retrieved using a dealer starscan tool. being that it was at the dealer already then i would suspect that this tool was used for diagnostic service and did not actually read anything. strange

I have, since last post, left vehicle with dealer for 4 days, they "tested" it each day and found that "it never missed a beat".
I have found one new thing, when it does behave badly I pull over, turn off ignition and wait 30 seconds, after that it runs fine again. Here is my reply to gremlinsteve, unfortunately, his inbox is full. Thanks gremlinsteve. I has now been 7 months and I have spent almost $ 2,000 in trying to find and fix the problem. Jeep Australia has walked away from it, saying "it's an odd problem", Jeep USA refers me back to Jeep Australia. I have since bought a scanning tool ($ 135 through local mechanic) and now rest light when I get tired of it. I also retrieve codes but so far this has not helped me. A big reward (and I mean this sincerely) for the one who comes up with a cure. Thanks everyone. Wombat43 |

I am sorry to say but I must conclude that this is a dead forum.
Have a good one and tread lightly. |

meaning....
....switch brands? I have not been impressed with what I hear of other makes. Seems the computer age has taken over and the inmates are running the asylum, or, better put, the bugs are ruling the humans.
