ignition trouble

HI, hope some one can give me an idea here. I have a 72 cj5 with 304 and motorola alt. I am using a painless harness and every thing has gone well until alt system because they don't provide tech on that.

Alt system puts out 14.4 at 850 rpm with 22 amps. once battery is charged up the coil over heats and spark stops. I can run, no prob, on battery but not with alt hooked up. The motorola system doesn't call for ballast and every thing I read on it says same. The grounds all test good, alt, coil, points and distributer all new and didnt run bad at all when it runs just off battery.

Hope some one has some Ideas
