Anyone that has run a carburated engine in many off road situations knows why fuel injection is better.

There...I said it. Get the right setup and you will have no problems with a properly tuned carbed 4.0 in that Jeep.

Screw Weber! I can't stand their products and I cannot stand their Customer Service even more. The are a bunch of condescending smart mouth jerks (and I am toning it down for the forum). I had a Weber that I bought new from Weber and after 4 months of constantly fighting with it and dealing with the retards up there I finally scrapped it and got a Motorcraft 2100 and WOW what a difference! With the HEI dizzy it is amazing and I even had an increase in mileage.

ok so i decided to temporarily run the carb on my stroker without the HEI distributor because i have a helluva commute everyday and i just could not lean out the computer any more. Long drives+running rich=lots of money on fuel. Im currently waiting on the paycheck to pick up my HEI. Ergo i installed the modified intake and Carb on the head whilst still using the Renix computer. a feat but a success! i installed the TPS on the carb via a linkage i made purely for the timing advancement upon throttle opening. crank sensor plugged in i fired it up after a pump or two of the gas pedal and vroooooom! some adjustments to the the carb via Edelbrock's guide and personal experience with carbs gave me a smooth running engine. Of course it will be even better with the HEI. Regardless a stomp on the pedal gave me two plumes of white smoke from the rear wheels as the secondaries dumped there glorious mixture into the intake. Lotta pep in its step Below are some photos of the carb sittin pretty during install. Updates will arrive as soon as the renix computer is removed and HEI dizzy is installed.

Someone who races, revs the piss out of or generally abuses a 6 cylinder. Which is also refered to as a BUZZIN HALF DOZEN.
Ron

So how did your project turn out with the HEI?

Been trying to get some one on here to point me in the right direction for a distributor and carb myself.
Thing is I have the 2.5l 4cyl so there is a few less options. Sounds like you had the same issue I'm having with the renix.
I finally found a HEI dizzy on eBay new for an AMC 4cyl so that will be my first swap. Dizzy first then carb.

Unlike some of the folks here I think you were spot on in your first post. You say something about nixing the EFI and you get flamed. There's just something sexy about a carb perched atop the intake and clean without all those vacuum hoses and sensors.
If the old flat fenders were so great and that was how they were born then why is it so bad now.

Sorry I didnt notice it was a 4 Cylinder. All the same applies and still be sure it has a vacuum advance. Find a dist at a pick and pull to be sure they are similar as I have no experience with the 4s.
