HP Dana 30 in a TJ.

I read somewhere online once that an HP 30 from an (96) XJ is a direct bolt-in swap for my (97) TJ front axle.

Is that true?

That is correct. 96-99 XJ fronts are the preferred years. Don't forget that gear ratio will need to match your rear though.

Yeah, anyone want to buy a brand new, never used set of 4.88's for the stock TJ D30? I bought them a while back to regear the front to match the back, but now I have the afore mentioned HP D30 and they wont work in it. Guess I'm gonna go with the HP 30 now.

Yep, HP30 are reverse cut gears.

04 TJ Willys Edition 4.0 five speed, metal cloak front, groundpounder rear, zj tie rod, currie track bar, more to come
