how to remove the shift lever from transfer case

I'm in the middle of a swap from a worn to a rebuilt 247J.

Got the old one out and need to transfer the old shift lever to the rebuilt transfer case. Removed the nut and it looks like it should pop right off but liquid wrench and some banging with a hammer to break it free (on the lever not the case) along with some light prying under the arm and still no luck.

I don't want to tear up the case beating on this shift arm. Any trick to getting it off?

TIA

Figured it out. Tap sideways with a hammer switching sides back and forth until it wiggles its way off the post.
