I have an 86 wagoneer and it won't pass emissions, the CO% is to high any suggestions or how can I lower the idle.

try changing the oil right before you do the test, the clean oil will pretty much absorb all the bad stuff for awhile at least until after the test. I saw this on a site someplace and a friend of mine did it and it worked pretty well. lemme know how it works, supposedly an EPA guy first mentioned it as a way to beat the smog tester..

Also a cheap quick fix is get two cans of seafoam,I get it at Napa. Dump one in the tank and using a squirt bottle- my own method- spray it directly into the intake with the filter off. Run the engine and do what they say on the can. It has gotten me to pass on several cars that fail the first time thru. Also sometimes coils may be getting weak, a new coil or a higher voltage coil can lower the emissions just enough. Also, get it HOT before you take it in. 81cj
