how to identify bellhousing type

I have what I thought was the V8 compatible T177 bellhousing to be used with an AMC 401 and my Np435/205 combo.

The numerals on the bellhousing are 3210949

I am informed by the transmission shop that it will not fit the transmission (np435).

Is there a way to search the T-17x series bellhousings for these numbers in order to identify the bellhousing?

Thanks

Why won't it fit the 435? Wrong bolt pattern? Wrong diameter hole? Wrong depth for your 435?
