Helppppp Pls. driving along all of a sudden I lose power

Hi Everyone

I own a 2006 Grand Cherokee 4.7 Motor

My Problem is that when I am driving along all of a sudden I lose power and when I try and push the gas pedal nothing happens ......... But the motor is still running............. then all of a sudden I have power back again....... I was wondering if there is some kind of switch that controls the acceleration other then the pedal and linkage

Thanks
Ed

Codes?

Do:

Key on, key off, key on, key off, key on then stop. Do not go to start. Codes will show on the odo.
