Help! My 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd 5.9 T-Case is shot!

Hello. I'm very new to this website and not too good with automotive terms. However, my buddies are so they can help me if I get confused. Anyway, I put my jeep into 4low and it made a grinding noise and would not engage. I had to put it back in 4 high. I have a quadra trac T-case, by the way. I had a buddy look at it (he knows jeeps pretty well) and said that my t-case was shot. I'm wondering what would be my best solution on solving this matter. I'm also wondering what t-cases would bolt up. I appreciate any help. Thank you.
