Help!!! Dead Jeep after washing engine!!

I needed to wash my engine after getting stuck in the mud...searched the forum for advice and decided to go the Simple Green route...got my engine VERY clean...gently rinsed off the Simple Green and started the Jeep...

It started right up, ran for about 3 seconds and stalled. Went to start it and all I get now is a rapid, fairly loud clicking noise when I try and crank the engine. I'm assuming this is a starter issue, but I'm new at this so I'd appreciate any help or ideas!

If I do need a new starter, is that a job that I can do myself? I'm fairly mechanically inclined (put in a few lifts, changed carburetors, etc...) but don't want to break anything else!

Thanks!

More info on my problem

Just checked my voltage...battery is running 13V and the connections on the starter are the same, so it looks like my starter is getting enough juice???

sounds like your starting silenoid. give her a couple a whacks with a hammer... and if that doesn't work... disconnect the power and give her a couple of whacks.... sounds like its just stuck....

this should free her up

also check the positive and ground........ battery

or turn it over while someone checks the voltage at the starter

now if it was just the starter why would it stall?????????????

cause the starter is only engaged in the start position.........

check fuses,, inside the jeep and in the power box under the hood....
