Help

I have a 79 cj5 with a three speed transmission. While driving in third gear at around 45 mph a loud whining noise started and the wheels then locked up and i skidded to a stop. The jeep then wouldnt move in reverse or forward. Finally after a few attempts i was able to get it to move in first gear with some shuddering to get it out the road. It now wont shift into second or third but will drive in first gear fine. Also when put in reverse it wont move at all but when clutch is released it will stall out. Any ideas of what i have wrong with it?

Start by dropping the driveshafts and see if you can rotate all four wheels. Make sure each wheel can move individually. It will give you an idea where to go from there. Definitely sounds like a drive train issue.
