Grit on the dipstick?

hey I just recently got back from fishing in prince rupert, Ive been away for 5 months, just put my jeep up for sale went to check the dipstick and it was all gritty and rusted, i did an oil change right before i took off up north, just wondering if this is normal, thanks all advice would be greatly apreciated
