Grand cherokee wont stay running!!!

I have a 2001 limited grand Cherokee. I took it on a 500 mile round trip to stretch its legs and when I would stop it would idle at 2 grand and run fine at 75 on the interstate but when I finished the trip it now wont idle above 1/2 a grand and will die as soon as you start it or when you stop as long as you give it gas it runs fine. This is my only vehicle and I have no clue where to start. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I always start with maintenance items first. I would take the air idle control valve out clean with carb cleaner and also the throttle body. Clean the valve with some fine sandpaper if needed. You tube has some good videos on how to do this. Let me know what happens
