fuel line

Have a83 4.2 engine do u need the fuel return line or can u block it off and just use one line fuel filter

I really cant be certain but I would probably assume the fuel pump is probably designed to return excess fuel. Without the return line you would probably see excessive fuel pressure and could fatigued or trash the pump, before that I would assume the pressure might push through the carb needle/seat and flood out. Besides that which is one theory, having the return line will basically render the fuel supply to a neutral or 0psi which is good for offroad, at least if the float is bouncing in the carb the fuel is not trying to spray into the bowl with "x" amount of pressure behind it causing a greater possibility of flooding.
