Fel-Pro Gasket Set for 4.0L I6

Does anyone know what the "extra" gaskets are for? I have 2 gaskets that go to the timing cover; one is black and the other is blue w/stripes. Do I use them both or just one of them? The gasket set didn't come with application instructions and my Haynes manual does not indicate that I should have more than one gasket.

Insight please.

Thanks!

- Brian

Brian,
Just use one that matches your front timing cover. I usaully end up with extra gaskets from gasket sets from various cars. The manufacture may cover different years or simular engines this way. It keeps down on the need to stock many different gasket sets. Packaging many times cost more than the item. Usually 1/4 the cost of the product is in packaging and transportation. So if they can cover a few more applications by adding in a gasket or two, it saves money in the long run.
