experience with water wetter?

Had some slight overheating issues due to really old coolant in my 97 5.2 Tsi I did a flush and now she runs great with very gradual increase in temperature from cold to warm. Will adding a lill water wetter improve cooling if added? What's your experience?

Did you do a flush with just water or chemicals? Regular or reverse flush?

I have found it useful; the '99 durango had a marginal heater, and it made a significant improvement in heater output.

Folks I know with 1910s-1920s vehicles swear by it.

YMMV.

I did a regular flush with just water.. the coolant was really old and a dark green color . It seemed to do the trick and system seams much healthier now. Just wanted to try some added cooling on top of what I've done already..

Thought I would just put this here, out of Factory manual, Unless you like chemistry I would not add anything.

ETHYLENE-GLYCOL MIXTURES
The required ethylene-glycol (antifreeze) and water
mixture depends upon the climate and vehicle operating
conditions. The recommended mixture of 50/50
ethylene-glycol and water will provide protection
against freezing to -37 deg. C (-35 deg. F). The antifreeze
concentration must always be a minimum of
44 percent, year-round in all climates. If percentage
is lower than 44 percent, engine parts may be
eroded by cavitation, and cooling system components
may be severely damaged by corrosion.
Maximum protection against freezing is provided
with a 68 percent antifreeze concentration, which
prevents freezing down to -67.7 deg. C (-90 deg. F). A
higher percentage will freeze at a warmer temperature.
Also, a higher percentage of antifreeze can
cause the engine to overheat because the specific
heat of antifreeze is lower than that of water.

I have a yr 2k Cherokee larado. I recently had to bypass the heater core. A few months later had to replace the water pump & while at it the thermostat & idler pully. It ran good for 6 more months then had a power steering pulley vaporize. So i repaired, now its summer in Arizona and its over heating all the time. I suspect that when i put orange coolant that some green got mixed in. I have been told to run straight coolant w no water because the conductivity of the water can mess with the sensors in the system. Could these be incompatible and cause the degradation in cooling performance? Or could there be other causes related to what has or has not been repaired?

Use it!

One full bottle to one full system. You can pretty well assume anything from RedLine is going to be good stuff, although I haven't used everything. I have, however, been using Water Wetter for a number of years with universally good results!

It won't replace flushing your system and keeping your coolant fresh, but it do help.

Ok well I flushed it and added fresh coolant and it stopped going over the half way mark .. decided to add 3/4 a bottle water wetter and now it sits firmly below half way .. I'm impressed

That right there satisfies my curiosity. I have wondered about that product for sometime now. Its cool to see someone with actual results to base a decision off of.

Oh I agree, I was sketchy on using it but I'm glad I went ahead and used it.. with my research on the product I got all kinds of answers and opinions .. most people claimed they still had overheating issues, I assumed they were just looking for a quick fix instead of tackling the real issue. I will be draining, flushing, and refilling the system before the winter comes so I don't freeze and crack lines!
