Engine swap questions

I have the 2.5l 4cylinder and I want to put in the 4.0 6 cylinder. I was wondering what I need to get to do it. Does the transmission from the 2.5l hook up to the 4.0 ( I Assumme it doesn't ),what is the process you have to do for the swap. And what are the parts I would need. How much would this cost too ( I was thinking it be round 2k, but could it be done cheaper. I'm on a collage budget) Thanks for any help

what year jeep do you have? they had 2 different 2.5L engines that were used. 1980-83's used the "Iron duke" Pontiac engine. after that they went to the AMC 2.5L 4 cyls.

Engine mounts from 95 xj, yet I try to install transmission mount and the style I have is 5 inches off. Do I need a new style mount or is my engine to far back. Need some serious replies.

What transmission do you have? If its the ax5 Peugeot then the 4.0 may wear it out faster than you want. The ax15 is a good swap.
If you have the amc 2.5 the 4.0 & 4.2 should work. Save your stock bell housing.
You'll need the sensors, wiring harness and, ecu from the donor 4.0 vehicle.

That sounds right. What engine Tranny combo did you have?
84-86 xj had a 4 cylinder diesel (rare), a 2.5, and a 2.8 Chevy turd.
87 xj had those engines and a 4.0 option.
88-90 had 2.5 & 4.0 renix.
91-01 2.5 (rare) & 4.0 ho.
