engine swap

i have a wreckek '93 jeep grand cherokee with a v8 (318) in it runs good and sold same with the tranny and transfer case as well as a '96 grand cherokee with an inline 6 in it bad head gasket though. i was wounding how hard it would be to put the v8 engine, tarnny, and trasfer case from the '93 in to the '96. i have somewhat of an idea of tools i need it is just the electical connections and the pluming of all of everything. please help me miss driving jeeps.

The 93 is OBD-I.. The 96 is OBD-II... you would have to snag the wiring harness and other electrical goodies from a 96+ w/ the 318.....

You probably could use the 93 wiring to run the motor, but the gauges and other electronics are not likely to work.

Also, IIRC, the 96+ v8's use the 46RE transmission... the OBD-I Jeeps use the 46RH..... So you might have to get a different transmission.

You should be able to reuse the temp and oil gauge and volt metter from engine to engine. The tac would need to be adjusted or replaced.

The 93 harness is not going to interface with the 97 harness....
