engine quiet now????

well i was changing my valve cover gasket and found 1 cloged breather line it is located on the left side of the valve cover to the throttle body. i drove it 10 miles and the knock seems to got quiet is this possible? i also cleaned the outher breather that is located on top of the valve cover it too was cloged.The top of the head near valve's were clean no sludge?? i guess that is good
