engine problems! help!

Im having some problems with my engine that i can't figure out. My engine will be idling fine then all of sudden totally bog out and try to stall. Soo, i changed the fuel filter, dist cap is new, plug and wires are new, air filter is new, brought it in and got the timing worked on and got a hole blown through the cat convertor. I also got the fuel pressure taken and that was also good. Any ideas?

well in a 91' i would imagine that it is the same as my 89' which is an AMC 150. they are finicy*but mine seems to keep on kicking. it might poor gas qaulity or some gunk in your gas tank. i would try a variety of fuel additives, or maybe some injector cleaners (the gas additive kind).

Is it a bad clutch? I notice when your clutch starts to go out it shutters up a bit when in neutral, or is it an auto?

pardon my ignorance, but I think in 91 the 2.5's were fuel injected?

if it is indeed FI, check the iac solenoid operation. (if your unsure, buy a repair manual from local parts store, you should own one anyway)

does it have A/C? Is your defrost on ?

what is the actual rpm difference?

has it done this as long as you've known, or is it a new problem?

its a new clutch so it cant be that, i tried the additive, so far no dice on that. But i will check my haynes manual for the iac selenoid. This still boggles my mind what it is :|

there is a pickup in the distributor that's a common repair

yes, the 91 is a multi point fuel injection system.
retrieve the codes if any, and go from there.
there are also a lot of tests to be doe with various sensors etc. read the shop manual (haynes, chilton, etc) and go from there
