Engine Problems

I am a career firefighter. I was driving my 2002 Jeep Wrangler X home from work the other morning when the jeep overheated and shut off on me. When I was driving it, I noticed it had a loss of power. I open the hood and the radiator had an obvious crack in it. The radiator was replaced but the jeep still does not run right. The oil is milky, and the jeep blows white smoke out even after it runs and heats up. Could this be a cracked head/engine block or a head gasket?. I do not know much about engines so any help is appreciated...

Thanks

Yes.

Haven't you heard careers are shorter these days

OP, yes you have water in the oil which does indicate warped head, cracked head or a busted head gasket for the most probable causes.

Yes
At a minimum you need to remove the head, check for signs of overheating, check for cracks, and replace the head gasket.
On the other end of the scale you need to rebuild or replace the engine.

sounds like bad head gasket, but i would take a straight edge ruler and feeler gauge to the head when you take it off to check for warpage. you place the edge of the straight edge against the head and try to fit the feeler gauge beneath it no more then 3thousandths of an inch is acceptable. remember to check it in many different axis. meaning cross ways, x shaped. and parallel lines down the length and width of the head. you may need to have the head machined if there is gaps found.

What does the firefighter part have to do with it? My sister has been a fire fighter for 16 years in Hartford CT.

If you want to brag then do it -dont send subliminal messages
