engine problems

My 97 wrangler with the 2.5 in it has ben a nightmare since the new engine was installed! My engine had a cracked head in it so I had it replaced with a new one. So far the problems have ben low power (even for the 2.5) piss pooor fuel economy, missing , backfireing and low oil preassure. Brought it back to the mechanic multiple times and he can't seem to figure it out and neither can I I know it needs a new intake/exaust manufold gasket and am trying to get it fixed by trying to figure out why its gone through 2 of them since march. Had an idea of maybe the muffler is pluged but wasn't shure. Please help anny ideas or thoughts are helpful
