engine dies on hills

I have a 96 grand Cherokee Ltd with the v8 5.2 l engine. I've been having a problem where it dies on inclines and declines and I'm not giving itgas. It only does this when I am letting the engine move on it's own power in drive. Anyone have any suggestions on what it could be? Please help! Thank you!

I dont really know but assuming your engine is a fuelie, I would check the pick up tubes in the tank. Does it do this when you are low on fuel or all the time? Usually the pump sits in a bowl that holds fuel regardless of the level changing in the tank on inclines or in cornering. Autocross Vettes have a problem when the tank gets below a half and and driven into a hard turn. The fuel pump is starved because of lack of fuel in the tank bowl. The solution is to fab a larger bowl for the pump to sit in or keep the tank full.

I would start with the Idle Air Control, When you are off the gas it is in control. Google it to understand what it does and when.

Thanks guys. I was thinking it had something to do with the air idle because my Rpms drop to zero and if I don't rev it, it dies. I don't think it is a fuel problem. It does it whether I have a quarter, half, or full tank. Figured that out camping this weekend.
