electric fan for 258
Does anyone know where to find an electric fan for an '85 CJ 7 w/4.2L? I don't want to use a universal fan because I want to make sure that it cools well and mounts right. Also, it's going on a stock radiator.
Has anyone done this? Do you like it? Do you notice any power gains? Thanks for any help.

Go to a junk yard and get an electric fan from a 80's model ford tuarus(spelling?) these are the best elec fans made (something like 6,000 cfm's compared to universals 2,500 cfm's) you will need to fab some mounts and by a t-stat from the parts house.
Wire it up and feel the breezes. ![]() I am in the process of doing this same mod. I have heard of noticable hp gains and with this fan a noticable cool down is to be expected...

I would agree with BigSexy's idea - but put a little extra info in .. make sure that you mount the fan to the radiator brackets - don't use the "zip-ties" that slip through the radiator as they are known to pull-through the radiator and destroy it ..

Flex-a-lite makes a kit for the cj's with a 258. That is what I have and I like it. I ordered the fans from summit and then emailed flex-a-lite and they sent me the brackets for free. There is a $100 difference in the kit and just the fans. go to their website http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/auto.htm and there is a link for CJ and one for low profile fans. The model 210 low profile is the same that comes in the CJ kit.

Thanx naekid, I dont know why I forgot to mention that. Zip ties are the worst thing you can do.
The brackets dont have to be bulletproof, the fans dont weigh that much, just some small thin flat bar that you can bend is what I am going to use...
