what other axles,housing and all can be bolted to 78 cj5 with little or no fabrication

You're trying to upgrade from what???
Front? rear? Both?
A 20? 30?
Filling out your profile will help.
The easiest in the rear is 44 from a 76 and later CJ.
Nothing in the front will swap without some welding.

Yes I agree the rear is the easiest to do

Dana 20 to Dana 44.

Which is the best way to go?
Rebuild Amc 20 or replace leaf spring mounts and brakes and put on Dana 44? I need help
