Destroyed my front upper control arms today!!

hey just thought i might show u guys what i did today im guessing i shouldnt drive it but what do the upper arms actually do? stop the axle from rotating?

You did that to the uppers and everything else is fine? Lowers? Driveshaft? Steering? Interesting. What do the uppers do? They, together with the lowers and the trackbar, locate the axle in multiple dimensions. I would think likely drives like crap with those like that and yes, I wouldn't drive it much with them in that condition.

Did you hit an obstacle with a little too much speed?

I've seen bent uppers like that before and that's what caused it.

yeah i umm stuffed up over some big rutts and launched the front end and i think the wheels fully extended down making the arms almost vertical so when i came down they got squashed its not something i want to do again ill show you the bog below and wot she looks like normally haha woops!

I've seen it from similar but it's typically crossing a gulley or ditch with the opposite side too steep. The forces from shoving the axle back combined with sudden high traction from shoving the tires into a near vertical wall does it just about everytime to the stock uppers. The tires grab and try to rotate the axle back at the top.

yeah thats pretty much what happened dude they were really deep rutts and i went across them and bounced around like a bloody noob cheers for the info, normally ide slow down but in the tidal flats if you get of the trigger your as good as stuck, i made a bad call i shoulda backed off when i had the chance but hey thats what its all about ey!
